Midweek Midpoint.

Yeah don't mind that title, it's too fucking early in the morning for me. Ok so the weekend has come and gone, the week is halfway through, and I am left with the flaking memories of art related times peppered with family moments and cleaning a horrendous mess I started 10+ years ago. Yes, I used to be a massive pack rat. Yes, I still have pack rat'al tendencies. Yes, I just totally made that word up. Friday was odd in the sense that I fell out at about 8.30p and didn't really care when I woke up at 11.00p only to go back to sleep. I needed the rest. Fuckit. In this line of work, I take it when I can get it. You have to. One never really knows when inspiration or opportunity (or both) will strike, so do this or anything like it, long enough and you realize when sleep hits you, TAKE IT. Don't fight it. Your body and mind will thank you later.

Saturday hit and I was up early as shit prepping a roast for dinner only to fall back asleep for a couple hours after breakfast and a short mini-marathon of The Office. Upon waking, inspiration finally hit and I got all my paints out. I haven't painted or even drawn really in about two weeks so I definitely embraced the moment. I cranked up some Freaks and Geeks (one of my latest television addictions, the others being Once Upon A Time and Fresh Off The Boat). My brother came by shortly after with his kids but I couldn't let it last too long. I had been waiting for this motivation, this drive for weeks now. After instilling a quick lesson of metaphorical color theory into my nephews and niece, I hit the paints again. I had this Dilla idea for a good moment now and was happy it was finally hitting the page. It's been a minute since I have updated Melodic Measures and this one was going great. Before laying the inks down, I breaked for lunch.

Working with leftovers I created a beastly sammich that definitely came from watching many episodes of Fresh Off The Boat and Eddie's comical antics. To make it quick, I took an Italian sausage and split it. Stuffed it with sliced sliced-turkey. Topped it with jalapeno jack and some leftover homemade spaghetti sauce (thanks to my lady for that one). Then I took the whole thing and chunked it in a split, thick cut of French bread and threw it in the oven. Baked that super sammich to a crispy flaky tenderness and topped it with lettuce and threw down. Peep the dude's Instagram for the flavor. Brain food for that ass yo, bong. The rest of the painting came out really dope and will be posted to the Melodic Measures site after this.

I then spent Sunday cleaning out my years of collected mess and flavor from my mom's garage which was full of gems like early 90's NBA Hoops cards, some of my first design projects from college, an old Daisy, a case of promotional glass mugs of Batman: Forever from McDonald's, a Batman: Knightfall Part 1 TPB, an old McFarlane Toys MAXX figure, and even an old Toy Machine pinata I made out of the ass of a Scooby Doo lol. Good times strolling down memory lane, minus the nostalgic paralysis.

All in all it's been a great weekend and great beginning of the week. Job has been steady providing me with CONSTANT humor and I even got to throw down on a T-bone for lunch yesterday courtesy of boss man. Anyway, time to get crackin' on the next projects and finish this week out. It's almost time to leave job, pack up all our things, and make a break for it. Ha Ha!! Journey to The West son. It's the real deal.

Stay Creative,
BLUE731.
