It's a new day and a new week. The weekend was with plentiful sleep and rest (FINALLY!!). The power outage fiasco of the Super Bowl has come and gone with plenty laughs and clever memes ensuing. Our opening receptions have come to a close as well as our celebrations of a great show. Now it's time to hit the week once again. Today I will be back at some photos so keep an eye on blue731.com for new stuff.
As for our show Nocturnal Memories, all I can say is WOW. We had such an amazing turnout of people come through and show their support. Many familiar faces and many, many more new ones. First Friday always has a slew of folks walking around Blue Star and I must say DJ MV definitely brought a mass amount of folks to our gallery. We were even asked to turn our setup down a bit because other performers in the complex couldn't be heard. Mind you we didn't even have the sub plugged in. Cortez even made a cameo appearance on the decks with some new golden wax. I'll say this, if we had run of that complex for one night it would be the biggest art party the city of San Antonio ever saw. BET THAT.
Anyway, the night was a huge success. I haven't seen that many people come through a humble gallery in a long time. Or that many smiling faces and dancing feet in Blue Star in general!! We had people of all ages dancing outside the doors of our place; kids, adults, and even b-boys somehow showed up and threw down. The power of music is a wonderful thing guys. We sold a good amount of work between the two of us, which is always good. A lot of interesting people came through including kids from the Ford Academy with these dope hand-crafted owl heds/helmets. People with their pets came through like this one dude and his AWESOME sugar glider named Vader. I hadn't ever seen one of those in person before, it was neat seeing that little guy crawl and jump everywhere. Friends and family showed up and overall we had about 1,000 people filter in and out with many great words shared with us.
Our first solo show was AMAZING to say the least and I thank all of you that attended and also to those who were there in spirit. THANK YOU. It has been a blessing and a long time coming. If you would like to see and purchase the works in the gallery, contact Dino or Feliz through Jump-Start @ (210) 227-JUMP (5867) and let them know you would like to view the work. Also, from now 'til the end of our showing, the gallery will be open on Friday evenings during their theater shows. Below is the address and info. Lastly, the first set of photos I shot Friday night are up, the second set will be up later this afternoon (blue731.com).
Once again, we thank ALL of you for your continued to support. I cannot say enough how much we love all of you for all you help us do and do for us. Which is why we strive to do our best and have great shows like this for everyone. We are already working on bigger projects as this week starts so keep your eyes and ears open for more things to come from Rabbit RYE and myself.
Stay Creative,
BLUE731.
