The Latest: ArtSlam! 7-Year & Our Gallery Show

Ok folks, it's been a good minute since I have been on here but it has not been for naught!! Apart from holding down my 95 and preparing for an upcoming move, things have been a bit crazy. We [Rabbit and I] recently got asked to show @ Jump-Start Theater inside the Blue Star Art Complex for First Friday (and for the entire month of February)..less than a week before the ArtSlam! 7-year jam. Which was a week before First Friday. Wow. Talk about pressure. We signed gallery contracts late last week and decided to focus on ArtSlam! for the time being.

ArtSlam! was a bonanza of art and good times. The bands were SO dope; Disco Wasteland KILLED it and the crowds seemed to really dig Japanther. The walls were graced with a sic mural by Buff Monster, Nychos, and L'amour Supreme. Super bright and colorful. Mad vivid. I delivered a few commissions (which will post after this) and sold some prints to some new and recurring fans. It's a great feeling to share these things with people and offer something that anyone can afford to take home. Even if it's just a free sticker. I will say I was left with a bit of mixed feelings from this one. Partly due to the changes that have transpired with the people. And partly due to knowing that this will be my last ArtSlam! for quite some time.

After ArtSlam! I had maybe a second to breathe lol. We had to get the ball rolling on this gallery show. IMMEDIATELY. We started game planning any necessary things from choosing the art we had, what pieces we wanted to create for the show, booking a DJ, starting promotions, etc. etc. etc., you get the idea. We have been working hard to ensure that this show is gonna be a great one with all the elements involved. Last night I spent a few hours building frames and clear-coating some works and running to our staple stores to pick up tools and supplies. Rabbit spent the evening right next to me painting and supporting. Sleep is becoming an unaffordable luxury haha. NRFTW.

All in all the show is coming together; we are hanging the majority of our work up today, we booked a great DJ, and the word is spreading. Our opening reception(s) are Thursday and Friday nights. Thursday will be a bit more relaxed and calm whereas Friday is First Friday and you know it's ALWAYS a party in Blue Star for First Friday. So bring your bikes, your brews, your boys & babes, and your positivity. And bring that booty ready to shake folks, it's gonna be a fun night!!

Stay Creative,
BLUE731.
