Pushing Arizona.
Today I spent a little time toning my design muscles. It has been awhile since I been at it on Illustrator and I've been pushing hard once again. Since I have been hitting the skateparks so much in the passed two months, I have been accumulating a mighty healthy stack of photos. I had an idea to start creating some artificial ads for skate companies using some of the photos I've been shooting at the parks. It would be a good way for me to flex my design & advertising skills and also include my photography and, eventually, my hand-created art as well. I'm also looking to catch the eyes of some of these companies and gain some opportunities to work for them. I've decide to call this new series If I Worked For Them.
For my first piece, I went with Real Skateboards simply for the fact that this flik came out ill and it had a great shot of the bottom of the deck with the surrounding park. I wanted to stay within the company's current design structure, but still include facets of myself. So for this piece I replicated their current "Pushing" campaign and played with the layout a bit more to my style. I also colored the deck with basic shape; real choppy and angular as my digital colors tend to be. This way I get to be a bit less structured and can be more free and energetic like the rest of my works while still executing a great design piece that would fit the company well. The end result is the image above. Look for more in the future as I also continue to create designs for the next release from AAM Clothing. It's a busy busy time but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Pursue your passions.
Stay Creative,
